Kester Black was established in 2009 by up and coming fashion designer Anna Ross. While studying a Bachelor of Fashion Design at Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand, Ross realized her flair and passion for designing jewellery, and so Kester Black was born.

Now based in Melbourne, Ross creates her pieces from her Brunswick studio, an old converted rope factory, supplying stockists throughout both Australia and New Zealand.

Producing two collections each year, all of the jewellery produced is made from the highest quality materials and workmanship, utilizing materials such as white gold, silver and hand carved wood.

The term minimalism is also used to describe a trend in design and architecture where in the subject is reduced to its necessary elements. Minimalist design has been highly influenced by Japanese traditional design and architecture. I'm positively fascinated with minimalism. It makes me appreciate the saying 'less is more'. From Alexander Wang and other prominent designers, minimalism is a niche. Some say it's boring or plain but I'm completely for it! More from Wang's Spring 11 below.
